Privacy Policy for UniCal Chrome Extension

Effective date: June 13, 2025

Thank you for using UniCal! This privacy policy explains how your information is handled when you use the UniCal Chrome extension.

1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Access

a. UEH Student Portal Data

UniCal accesses your class schedule data from the UEH Student Portal only when you use the extension on that site. This data is used solely to generate calendar files for your personal use.

  • We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your schedule data to any external server.
  • All processing happens locally in your browser.

b. Google Account Information (If you use Google Calendar integration)

If you choose to import your schedule directly into Google Calendar, UniCal will request permission to access your Google Calendar via Google OAuth.

  • We only use the minimum required information (your name, email, and calendar access token) to create a new calendar and add your schedule events.
  • We do NOT store, share, or transmit your Google account information or access token.
  • All authentication is handled securely via Google's official OAuth process.

3. What Data We Do NOT Collect

UniCal does NOT collect, store, or share any of the following:

  • Personal identification information (such as your name, address, or ID number) except for your Google account name and email, which are used only for the calendar import feature and not stored.
  • Health, financial, or payment information.
  • Passwords, PINs, or security questions.
  • Your browsing history, activity, or any data from websites other than the UEH Student Portal.
  • Any data for advertising or analytics purposes.

4. How Your Data Is Used

  • Your schedule data is only used to generate calendar files (.ics) or to import events into your Google Calendar, as you request.
  • No data is sent to any external server or third party.
  • All data processing is done locally in your browser.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Data Retention Policy

Since UniCal processes all data locally in your browser and does not store any personal information on external servers, our data retention practices are minimal:

  • No Personal Data Storage: UniCal does not store your personal information on any server controlled by us.
  • Local Processing Only: All schedule data processing occurs locally in your browser and is not retained after the session ends.
  • Google Calendar Integration: When you use the Google Calendar integration, your schedule events are created directly in your Google Calendar account. These events are subject to Google's own data retention policies, not ours.

Data Deletion

  • Automatic Deletion: Since we do not store your personal data, there is no data to delete from our systems.
  • Google Calendar Events: If you wish to delete schedule events that were created in your Google Calendar through UniCal, you can do so directly through your Google Calendar interface.
  • Extension Data: You can remove any locally stored extension data by uninstalling the UniCal Chrome extension from your browser.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request information about any data we might have (though we do not store personal data)
  • Request deletion of any data (though we do not store personal data)
  • Contact us with any questions about data handling

6. Third-Party Services

  • Google Calendar: If you use the Google Calendar integration, authentication and data transfer are handled securely via Google's official APIs.
  • UniCal does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

7. Data Security

  • All data is processed locally in your browser.
  • No personal data is stored or transmitted to any server controlled by UniCal or the author.

8. Children's Privacy

UniCal is intended for university students and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
